Spring is Here

Several more months have passed, and the winter freeze seems to have melted and giving away to blooms, breezes and spring showers. Along with the blossoming of nature, Miss Hanny is growing into a very silly, beautiful young girl. Her round baby face and baby rolls are slimming and slenderizing, leaving a toddler where once an infant was. We continue to be amazed...I wonder if that will ever change?? (Stats at 19 mos old: 28lbs, 32", speaking about 25-30 words and speaking clear 2-3 word phrases and lots of babbling sentence)

Daddy is almost done teaching for the year. June 6th the kids will be gone for the summer and total peace and quiet will be found everywhere! Though we really cannot complain. Hannah has 45 "big brothers", all of whom really are pretty considerate, and love her very much. Living at a boarding school has also afforded a pretty good balance for Mama to work a three day schedule and spend the rest of the time raising Miss Hanny. If we had our own home, then a 40 hr work week would be a requirement and a real challenge.

Mama is now working as a fee-for-service therapist, cutting back on hours and getting the same pay. The extra time and freedom is really a selfish move, with hopes for working out more for Mama so her sanity and health are better. So far is has not gone quite as planned, need for morning hours has not cut back the hours quite as much, but not having to follow some of the same constraints as salaried employees lifts a blanket of stress. It also allows for a more enjoyable job and a more productive therapist.

Life really is good. No complaints here. Good weather overall, lots of time outside, exploring new places, building new skills and making new friendships...spring for Miss Hanny.

Do you ever stop talking????

I'm not sure when most babies start talking, but it seems that Miss Hanny has a special talent in this area. From the time she wakes (sometimes even in her sleep) until she shuts her eyes, Hannah's mouth is moving. Her vocabulary grows by leaps and bounds each day, and her pronunciation and clarity is improving every day. This of course means Momma and Daddy have to be very careful about what comes out of our mouths. She is a parrot and is very proud to share her thoughts and our words!! So far we have avoided any unmentionable words...but there have been a few close calls.

In addition to talking, this girl likes to sing and dance too, especially to her one true love ELMO. How one fuzzy, red puppet can capture the attention of this little girl...it amazes me. We don't even have cable so her access to him is mostly through books and videos. I wish Elmo was a stock, because I would put all my money on him.

Next month Miss Hanny will turn 18mos...stats to follow with her check-up. The has actually slowed down with weigh gain...stopped according to a weigh in at the on-call doctors office two weeks ago. Not surprised really since we are in CONSTANT motion. Momma has even lost a few pounds without trying!

Next post will be an update on growth stats and stories from our upcoming trip to visit Great Grandma and Gramps. Until then, enjoy our photos..
